Aklais Bog Nature Trail, Latvia
The 2-kilometer long trail located about 90 kilometers from Riga runs through a bog that started forming about 9,000 years ago.
Part of the route resides on a wooden boardwalk. Along the way, you can see the battlefield of World War II located just 0.5 kilometers from the pedestrian bridge.
The landscapes here are picturesque and varied, with rare species of plants and animals. Locals love to go berry picking around for cranberries, blueberries, and lingonberries.
Lake Baltezers is located near the trail, if you’d like to extend the walk.
