Aluksne Castle and Museum

The new castle surrounded by a beautiful park is located on the shore of a small lake in the center of Aluksne. There are two museums inside the castle: the Museum of Nature and the Aluksne Museum. Traces of the city history can be found in the wall and ceiling paintings of the castle.

The Aluksne Museum has permanent and temporary exhibitions, as well as educational programs for children.

Here is the range of historical and archaeological exposition available: “The Celebration of Ages”, “The Gold Mine of Vietinghoff in Aluksne”, “Leo Kokle. Artist’s Room”, “Memorial Room to the Victims of the Totalitarian Regime”, “Sculptures and other witnesses of the recent past”, 120 miniatures of girls in folk costumes by Austri Lindi, “100 historical moments in Aluksne” (digital) and others.
