Astravo estate in Biržai, Lithuania
The Astravo estate complex is a luxurious and unconventional two-story palace built on the shore of Lake Shirvis in the mid-19th century.
The palace, which resembles a classic Italian villa, has a lovely porch decorated with sculptures of lions. Inside, you will find posh premises, and outside, a chic park with ponds and rare species of plants and trees.
Built in 1575, Lake Shirvis is the first artificial lake of Lithuania. The average depth is only 2.2 m, and the coastal winding line reaches 12 km. The lake was created for the sake of defending the castle and approaches to the city. Nowadays, a 525 meter-long wooden pedestrian bridge is stretching over the lake.
Have a walk along the estate and the bridge to enjoy stunning landscape views.
