Asva Viking Village Theme Park. Saaremaa, Estonia
This unique theme park in the Baltics invites its visitors of all ages to learn about Viking history in a playful way.
The island of Saaremaa is known for its rich Viking history. In particular, the Asva hill fort is an ancient fortified settlement that has existed since the Bronze Age. On the outskirts of this settlement, the Asva Viking Village park is located today.
The park is a reconstruction of a real Viking village: the territory is equipped with a strong wooden fence with special platforms imitating defensive structures on the other side, offering a breathtaking view of the surrounding area.
The park is divided into thematic and age zones. There is a real miniature Viking fortress for children with slides. Next to the fortress, there are swings, a sandbox and other entertainment for younger children. In the animal park, you can make friends with poultry, goats, sheep and rabbits; all inhabitants except the birds can be petted and fed special food.
The park also has an area where you can learn about Viking crafts and entertainment, an archery and axe throwing area, a horse riding ranch and much more.
In the center of the park, there is a huge structure, the Adventure Park, where everyone can test their agility and endurance on a rope course. A visit to this course is not included in the general ticket, but can be purchased separately. The height of the path is 12 meters. Young Vikings are welcome to walk along the lowest level of the path.
You can learn about the life of the Vikings by participating in the game. At the entrance, visitors are offered a map with information points revealing interesting facts about the Vikings and runes. If you manage to find and write down all the runes, and then decipher the secret word, you can get a surprise at the exit.
In the main house, you may explore an informative exhibition about the settlement of Asva and excavations in this area as well as get some food and buy souvenirs.
