Bauska castle, Latvia
Bauska Castle is located at the picturesque confluence of two rivers, Memele and Musa.
The old part of Bauska Castle, an impressive fortress of the 15th century, was built as a defensive fortification for the knights of the Livonian Order.
The new part of the Bauska Castle, built at the end of the 16th century, used to be the residence of the Duke of Courland.
Today, visitors can explore the ruins of the Livonian Order, visit the castle museum and climb the restored tower, which offers views of the castle, rivers and the city.
