On November 26th, the country’s main Christmas tree turned the lights up in Vilnius. This year, the New Year tree looks like a three-tiered anniversary ‘cake’ decorated with 700 candles in honor of the 700th anniversary of Vilnius.
Near the Christmas tree, on Vincas Kudirka Square and in Odminu Park, there is a Christmas market.
From November 26th to January 8th, you can ride the Christmas train along the streets of Šventaragio, Piles, Didžioji, Vokėčiu, Dominikonu and Universiteto.
On December 1st, at 18:00, a festive skating rink will open in the courtyard of the former Lukiski prison.
On December 3rd, the International Christmas Charity Fair and concert will take place at Vilnius Town Hall Square.
This year, a competition for the best Christmas decoration for shop windows and public spaces themed as “Cozy and sustainable Christmas is held. The winner will receive €1500.
