Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior. Suntaži, Latvia
The history of the Suntaži Orthodox community dates back to 1847, when it needed a place of worship for the congregation.
The original church building was small, yet the congregation eventually grew to around 2,000 members. In 1909, a more spacious red-brick church with stunning domes was constructed; it became one of the most beautiful buildings in Suntaži.
Following World War II, the church gradually fell into disuse, and the structure eventually began to deteriorate.
Today, the church ruins attract enthusiasts of history and abandoned architecture.
