Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia. Tallinn, Estonia

This unique art space in Tallinn invites all its visitors of all kinds and backgrounds to touch art. It is a non-profit organization that promotes contemporary art and makes it accessible to everyone.

It differs from conventional museums: there are neither tickets, nor set frames, and even the building is an art object itself. It was once an abandoned construction fixed by enthusiastic artists and curators, having turned into a space for artists to exhibit their works, find like-minded people, and hold events.

The museum is open seasonally, from April to December, and each season something new and unique happens here. Exhibitions change, various art shows are held, unconventional installations are established. The curators of the museum invite artists to experiment, interact with ideas, and take advantage of the fact that they can use the building and play with the space to implement them.

For artists, the Museum of Contemporary Art is a place to express themselves, find support and help with organizing an exhibition or installation. For visitors, the museum provides an opportunity to fully immerse themselves in something new, outstanding and unprecedented.

In summer 2024, visitors are able to explore exhibitions and projects dedicated to peatlands. The exhibition “Down in the Bog – Sporulation”, created by a union of artists, natural scientists and designers, encourages thinking about and together with the ecosystems of peatlands. Visitors will also discover audiovisual works, a textile work by the Norwegian artist Hilde Hauan Johnson, various art performances, both echoing the main theme of the exhibition and independent ones.

The museum has its own public garden of contemporary art and sculptures, where collective gardening sessions, thematic master classes and parties are held.
