The May Count Day has been celebrated in Riga since the 15th century. The city council awarded this title to the best warrior for the whole next year. Nowadays, in Riga the Count of May is traditionally celebrated in spring, but this year has made adjustments.
The program includes medieval entertainment, a fair, a carnival, a parade of festival participants, a theater, a concert program, a medieval disco, a fire show and a costume competition. The winner of the tournament will receive the title of the Count of May, and his companion will be crowned as the Countess. Participation in the event is free, you only need a historical or carnival costume.
