Evangelical Lutheran Church of Grieze, Latvia
Built in 1580, the Grieze church is located near the border with Lithuania.
During the Second World War, the church was badly damaged, and was abandoned in the 1950s.
In 2003, the restoration process began.
The Church of Grieze is very special: it has preserved authentic ancient walls, and on the window openings, stucco made in the highly durable sgraffito technique is visible.
