Gulbene depot and “Bānītis” narrow-gauge railway line Gulbene-Aluksne, Latvia
In the Gulbene depot, you can visit the workshops of the 20th century as well as discover the locomotives on narrow-gauge and broad-gauge tracks.
“Bānītis” is the only regular narrow-gauge train in the Baltic States. It provides passenger transportation at a distance of 33 kilometers between the cities of Aluksne and Gulbene. This part of the narrow-gauge railway is a preserved fragment of 210 kilometers of the Plavinas-Valka line.
The Gulbene-Aluksne narrow-gauge line has been recognized as a cultural monument of national importance.
