Kumu Art Museum in Tallinn, Estonia
KUMU is the abbreviation of the Estonian “KUnstiMUuseum”, which means “Art Museum”. It was built in Tallinn between 2003 and 2006 and represents the largest of the five branches of the Estonian Art Museum and one of the largest in Northern Europe. In 2008, the branch was awarded the title of “European Museum of the Year”.
KUMU has both permanent and temporary exhibitions; the fprmer displays Estonian art from the end of the 18th century, including works from the Soviet period, and the latter – international and Estonian contemporary art.
In the museum, you can visit a cafe or restaurant, a bookstore, a library, a terrace, and auditoriums for seminars and various events.
