Kaerajaan Restaurant. Tallinn, Estonia
This modern Estonian restaurant in the heart of Tallinn Old Town is known for its amazing gastronomic adventures and a homely atmosphere. The venue has been operating for over 16 years and is highly appreciated by both locals and tourists.
Kaerajaan is located next to the Town Hall Square, being established in a two-story building with a beautiful view of the Old Town. The interior of the restaurant is inspired by Estonian culture and folklore: the design uses traditional visual elements and accents made from local materials. For example, the ceiling and walls are decorated with Estonian ornaments and straw elements. In summer, you can enjoy your meal on the terrace.
The menu embraces modern Estonian cuisine as well as locals’ favorite dishes from around the world. The variety of options is truly amazing: here you will find pasta, burgers and homemade desserts. The all-time favourite is the Town Hall schnitzel.
We recommend trying:
– Estonian catfish sushi,
– breaded Baltic herring,
– duck fillet in red wine sauce with grilled vegetables,
– pike perch in white wine sauce with potatoes and vegetables.
We also suggest paying attention to the desserts: the Kaerajaan team has revived classic desserts with extraordinary twists. For example, here you can try the Pavlova cake with kama cream, tiramisu with Vana Tallinn liqueur and crème brûlée made from homebrewn kvass.
Kaerajaan is a great spot for lunch or dinner after a romantic or family walk in the Old Town of Tallinn. The restaurant will also appeal to larger groups to be accommodated at spacious tables; with advance reservations for groups, you can order a three-course set.
