Karksi Castle and Peetri Church, Estonia
Founded in the 13th century, the castle is located in the town of Karksi-Nuia.
In the course of history, it was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt. During the Northern War, the castle was captured by the Russians. By order of Peter I, it was finally destroyed.
Since then, only ruins have remained. Only the protective walls and two towers have been well preserved to this day.
Next to the ruins of the castle, there is the Lutheran church of Peetri with its leaning bell tower.
