Kaunas Castle, Lithuania
Kaunas Castle is the oldest building in Kaunas and the first stone structure in Lithuania, built in the 14th century to protect the city from the knights of the Teutonic Order.
During the battles, the castle was destroyed several times and then restored. Today, only part of it remains: two towers and a few walls. The Round Tower houses a museum, where you can learn about the history of these places. Music festivals, battle reenactments and children’s events are often held in the area around the castle.
The castle is located at the confluence of the Neman and Neris rivers right in the old town.
