Keila-Joa Castle (Schloss Fall). Northern Estonia
Keila-Joa Castle or Schloss Fall is a historic site where you can visit a museum, stay in a beautiful hotel, and dine in a restaurant. The castle is located near Tallinn, next to one of Estonia’s most picturesque waterfalls, Keila-Joa. Keila-Joa Castle was featured by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the “9 Incredible Castle Hotels Around the World.”
The history of the manor begins in the 19th century, when the building was commissioned by Alexander Benckendorff, Chief of the Gendarmes under Emperor Nicholas I. During the Soviet era, it housed the Officers’ Club, after which it fell into disrepair. In 2010, a large-scale restoration of the castle began, and in 2013, the museum, and later the hotel and restaurant, opened its doors to the public.
The museum’s permanent exhibition tells the story of the castle and its early owners. Art, interior design, and other interesting exhibits are on display.
Temporary exhibitions are regularly held. From 29 November 2025 to 30 May 2026, the exhibition “Art Deco – 100 Years of Fashion” from the private collection of Alexandre Vassiliev (Paris) will showcase the evolution of European fashion between 1918 and 1939, featuring over 56 outfits and 200 accessories by iconic designers such as Chanel, Lanvin, Schiaparelli, and Vionnet.
During the warmer months, you can stay at the castle hotel. Guests can choose from 21 beautiful rooms of various categories: 5 luxury suites, 14 double rooms, and 2 suites. The rooms are decorated in a classic style and equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay.
The castle features a French restaurant, Schloss Fall, where you can enjoy meals with a stunning view of the Keila Falls and the park. The restaurant offers two menus: a four-course and a five-course menu. Reservations are required.
In December, the hotel and the restaurant will be ready to welcome the guests again. You can book a room and a table at www.schlossfall.com.
We also recommend visiting the beautiful park with a three-kilometer trail. You can stroll to the sea, the coast is a 15-minute walk from the castle. For more information about the castle and the surrounding area, you can book a guided tour.
