Ķūķu Cliff is a 43m-high geological monument located in the Gauja National Park and protected at the national level. This is the highest Devonian rocks outcrop in Latvia.

In the middle part of the rock, you will find the Ķūķu cave, which is accessible only during low water. In winter, the front of the cave gets ‘decorated’ with icefalls.

The rocks quickly change their appearance due to river erosion and frequent landslides.

There are multi-level rapids near the rocks, which explains why the ancient rafters called this place “Rapid Rocks”.
