Lačupīte Arboretum, Latvia
Lačupīte park with a collection of exotic trees was founded by engineer Igor Mednis in 1959. He brought seedlings from different countries and regions to check whether they would survive in the Latvian climate.
⠀
Today, the arboretum features about 60 species of conifers and 350 species of deciduous trees. It is especially beautiful in spring, in May and June, when the rhododendrons bloom. In autumn, it is more quiet here and you can head off to a mushroom hunt.
⠀
In the park, you can walk along a path with a wooden bridge and comfortable benches for rest as well as carved sculptures and picnic spots. For children, there is a small playground and an obstacle course.
⠀
The main attraction is a photogenic fairy-tale hut, which is a true magnet for the visitors. At the end of the path, there is an exit to the sea and a quiet sandy beach.
