Laima Chocolate Museum. Riga, Latvia

Laima sweets are known and loved in all the Baltic countries. In the Laima Chocolate Museum, you can learn all about the milestones of the company, learn about the origins of chocolate, get to know unique chocolate exhibits, and, if desired, attend a master class on making chocolate.

The museum is located in the center of Riga on Miera Street, where the Laima factory administration building was established in 1936. Today, visitors can explore an exhibition telling the story of the factory and the brand as well as visit the brand store where you can buy Laima products.

The exhibition is divided into stages. It begins with the history of the Rigert brothers, who founded the first candy factory in Riga in 1876, and continues with a section with facts about the development of the factory and historical packaging.

The museum also has a special hall where short films are broadcast revealing the history of the factory, the production process of various sweets and the life of the brand today. The films are available in three languages, including English.

The museum presents many interesting exhibits, such as wrappers, boxes and other types of packaging that were used by the factory in different years. Another interesting section of the exhibition is full of historical items. For example, here you can see a chocolate doll that is already 136 years old and also several modern chocolate sculptures. It is amazing how real works of art are made from chocolate.

To get acquainted with the exhibition, we recommend booking a guide or, for a small additional fee, renting an audio guide, available in 7 languages. The guide will allow you to fully appreciate the exhibition, learn different stories and interesting details about the history of the factory and chocolate.

The museum offers creative chocolate workshops, where you can make your own unique candies, which make a great idea for a birthday or hen party. Please note that booking of such workshops in advance is a must.
