Usma is Latvia’s fourth largest lake and second largest by volume. It was formed thousands of years ago after glaciers retreated.

The lake has seven islands. The largest is Viskuzhu, and Moricsala Island is home to Latvia’s oldest nature reserve; at the moment,it is closed to the public.

To see the entire lake, you can climb the 26-meter high Ūdru Observation Tower. It is located near the shore, on Ūdru Hill. A convenient trail leads to it, and there is a parking area nearby.

The lake is ideal for recreation at any time of year. Here you can walk, swim, boat, and simply enjoy nature. It is also a popular spot for fishing and sailing.
