Home » Объекты » Lielstraupe Castle. Latvia

Being one of the few medieval castles in Latvia that have survived to this day, Lielstraupe Castle is also the only one in the country to have a church combined with the main building. The construction was seriously damaged in 1905 and took about four years to restore.

Since the beginning of 2018, the castle has been managed by the Pārgauja County Municipality, and its doors have been opened to tourists.

Here, you can learn about the history of the castle and walk through its labyrinths. You can also explore ancient oak staircases, unusual ceramic stoves from the beginning of the last century and curious historical interiors.
