This cozy restaurant in the heart of Riga combines a straightforward menu of local farm-grown produce with an excellent selection of natural wines. The main idea behind LOWINE is to cook deliciously and simply, preserving the natural flavors of its ingredients. Chef Alexey Zalygin is in charge of the kitchen, carefully selecting ingredients from local suppliers and placing special emphasis on high quality and handcrafted workmanship. This approach pays off: the restaurant is quickly becoming a favorite among both locals and tourists.

LOWINE boasts a stylish interior and large windows overlooking one of Riga’s busiest streets. In summer, you can enjoy food and drinks on the cozy terrace in the courtyard, in the heart of the city, yet away from the hustle and bustle.

The restaurant serves hearty breakfasts on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (and on weekends from 10:00 AM). Guests can enjoy Turkish eggs with yogurt, savory shakshuka, fluffy potato pancakes with salmon or bacon, and a hearty lobster roll on homemade brioche. The stuff use only farm-raised eggs and bake their own sourdough bread. If you are a sweet tooth, you will certainly appreciate the light syrniki (cottage cheese pancakes) or crêpes Suzette.

In the evening, LOWINE offers a simple yet interesting dinner menu. It’s worth trying dishes made with Latvian beef, local pike perch, and duck leg, or ordering light appetizers to pair with wine, such as stracciatella with truffle oil or chicken liver pâté.

The wine list is a particular highlight. It boasts a vast collection of organic and biodynamic wines from small European estates. The selection is constantly updated, with new items added weekly. For this unique selection, LOWINE received the prestigious International Best Shortlist of the Year award at the Baltic Wine List Awards.
