One of the most picturesque lighthouses in Latvia is located in the Mersrags region.

Built in 1875, it has a height of 19 meters.

The lighthouse was made in France, and people called it “the Frenchman”. During the First World War, it suffered from shelling. In 1922, the tower was restored and reinforced with concrete ribs.

The lighthouse is open to visitors by prior arrangement.

There is a campsite, walking trails and a bird watching tower nearby.
