Pernova Nature House in Parnu, Estonia
Pernova Nature House is a great interactive venue to visit for both children and adults. The mission of the centre is to tell people about the diversity of nature and its value in the life of a person and the whole planet, thus instilling a genuine love for it in people.
There are several expositions on three floors. The permanent exhibition is dedicated to the natural world of Pärnu and its surroundings. It includes a sound cave where you can listen to different birds singing and a film cave where you can watch short documentaries about animals in their natural habitat.
The сутеку has a unique feature: a huge dome which also is used as a cinema with a panoramic screen. Here you can watch films on various topics – discover universe, a world underwater, astronomy in Estonian and English. We recommend that you get acquainted with the schedule of screenings in advance online or on the spot.
The Nature House has a large winter garden where you can learn more about plant and animal life. You can explore the exposition on your own or with an audio guide available in several languages this summer.
The permanent exhibition is regularly updated and expanded. Also, the Nature House regularly hosts temporary exhibitions. For example, right now you can see an exhibition of stones and minerals here. Temporary exhibitions change every six months or once a year.
The centre has many interactive elements that allow you to immerse in the world of nature. For example, short educational films and various games, like the one where you can touch the fur of various animals and have to guess which animal this fur belongs to.
The Nature House also hosts various events. For example, in winter, the Light Park traditionally emerges here by means of installing light objects and sculptures in the outdoor area of the centre.
