Šlokenbeka Manor and Latvian Road Museum
Šlokenbeka manor is located on the outskirts of Tukums, in the village of Milzkalne. This is the only fortified manor in Latvia having survived to this day. It is recognized as an archaeological and architectural monument of national importance.
The manor was first mentioned in historical sources after 1484. It was built to protect the city of Tukums from enemy attacks. To this day, stone walls with loopholes have been preserved in the old building.
Nowadays, the manor houses the Latvian Road Museum. There are guided tours where you can get acquainted with the development of the road industry in Latvia.
