Riga Motor Museum. Riga, Latvia
The modern and interactive Riga Motor Museum has the largest and most diverse collection of cars in the Baltics. The museum will be exciting to explore for both adults and families with children. We recommend planning a few hours for a visit. For your convenience, the museum has free parking.
Riga Motor Museum was founded in 1989 and has been operating for over 35 years. In 2016, the museum opened after a large-scale reconstruction. The museum’s collection is located on three floors and includes more than 100 unique cars and motorcycles. The exhibition tells not only about the cars themselves, but also about the people and events that changed the automotive industry over time.
The exhibition is conveniently divided into chapters, each telling you about a certain stage in the history of the automotive industry. While visiting the exhibition, you will get acquainted with the prototypes of modern cars, first cars, automobiles and motorcycles of the 20s and 30-40s, the collection of Soviet cars, the history of motor sports and, of course, learn a lot about the history of the automobile industry and the auto life of Latvia.
The exhibits are accompanied by information boards. To help visitors immerse themselves more deeply in the world of cars, the museum has many interactive elements: screens with short films, twisting mechanisms, riddles and much more. For children, there is an indoor and outdoor playground as well as special interactive games.
You can view the exhibition on your own or book a guided tour.
The museum has a café where you can have a snack after viewing the exhibition. The menu includes Latvian and modern European cuisine.
The museum offers many additional services: rental of premises, organization of a banquet in the café, educational programs and much more. Read more about the services on the website: www.motormuzejs.lv
