Home » Объекты » Dome Cathedral in Riga, Latvia

Riga Dome Cathedral was founded in 1211. Services and concerts with famous musicians are often held here.

Dome Cathedral features a huge organ installed in 1883-1884.

There is a golden cockerel on the spire of the cathedral, which is one of the main symbols of Riga. The first cockerel at the Dome Cathedral appeared in 1595. It was painted in two colors, black and gold, and served as a weather vane. Only in 1985, 400 years later, the cockerel was replaced with a new one.

In the ball under the cockerel’s feet, there is a time capsule with a message to future generations.

Inside the cathedral, you will find a beautiful courtyard with historical and architectural values from different eras.

Admission to the cathedral is fee-based and limited in time. More: doms.lv
