Lielvarde Castle, Latvia
The stone castle of the Order of the Brothers of the Sword with a fortress wall was built on the site of an ancient Livonian wooden castle in 1229. Only ruins have survived from it, which were mothballed in 1987. Previously, the castle used to belong to the Bishop of Riga Albert.
The ruins of the castle are recognized as an archaeological monument of national importance.
