The ruins of the Livonian castle in Ergeme are a historical and archaeological monument of national importance. It was built around 1320 under the guidance of the Master of the Livonian Order, Gerhard von Jorke.

The castle is located close to the border with Estonia. It is built from local boulders, bricks and mortar. It is a monastery-type castle with two large fortress towers surrounded by moats with water. The remains of the towers are 11-13 meters high.
