This unique project includes a 2-hour-long exposition of the history of Soviet everyday life, a concert hall and themed escape rooms. The museum is located in the building of the former collective farm center, one of 15 of its kind in Estonia. The building is considered one of the finest examples of constructivism architecture in Europe and is listed as an official architectural and heritage monument in Estonia.

The collective farm center was built 1979-1982 according to the project of the architect Marika Lõoke. 40 years later the empty building was planned to be demolished, but it is a valuable architectural relic and an important place for the locals: almost every family in the city has a history associated with this building, prime-time KEK inhabited 1132 employees. It was decided to restore the abandoned collective farm.

Today, you can immerse yourself in the history of the everyday life of a Soviet person. The exposition shows how people lived in the 1970s-1980s. Here, you can see an example of a Soviet apartment, a shop, a canteen and even a bar. You can see and read about self-made cars, deficit, subsistence ’currency’, nuclear war fear, stealing etc.

Each part of the exposition includes amazing finds: old scales, food packaging, dishes and other household trifles. The museum also broadcasts 14 documentaries about Soviet realities. All the explanatory texts are translated into 4 different languages- English, Finnish, Russian and Estonian.

If you want to dive deeper into the history of Soviet people, the museum has two escape rooms with 8 witty tasks to be solved in order to escape. Quests are an interactive addition to the museum that allows you to literally dive into the life of the previous generations. Game bookings: broneeri.saarekek.ee or info@saarekek.ee Price: from 45 EUR/ per hour.

SAARE KEK is also a concert venue location. For several years now, top quality concerts have been held here, organized in cooperation with the Estonian Jazz Union. Also, the premises can be rented for any private event: a seminar, conference, gala, jubilee-party, festival, or even for a wedding, photo- shoot, or orienteering-running event.
