In the Seaside Regional Park of Lithuania, between Karkle and Giruliai, there is a 24.4-meters high cliff formed 12,000–15,000 years ago during the last Baltic glaciation. This is the highest spot on the Lithuanian coast. From here, you can enjoy the view over the sea with steep coasts and rocky beaches.

Covered with pines and oaks, the “Dutchman’s hat” stood out on the sandy plain, and used to be a landmark for sailors and fishermen for a long time. At the beginning of the 19th century, navigation signs were installed here, having been marked on maps since then.

It is believed that the hill was named like this due to its resemblance to the Dutch hat, if one views it from the sea.

The “Dutchman’s Hat” cliff is included in the list of natural heritage sites.
