Kuldiga Old Town
The historical center of Kuldiga has carefully preserved buildings dating back to the 13th century. Neither the First nor the Second World War touched Kuldiga dramatically, so the city avoided vast damage and, thus, the reconstruction of the downtown. No major roads or railways passed through the city, which also contributed to the original architecture having remained.
Kuldiga is rightly considered one of the most beautiful cities in Latvia with its tiled roofs, medieval streets and the Aleksupite river winding along the old houses.
Plan a whole day for a trip to Kuldiga. Restaurants and accommodation are affordable here, even by the Baltic standards.
