The ruins of Vastseliina Castle (Estonian: Vastseliina piiskopilinnus, German: Neuhausen) are one of the main attractions of Southern Estonia, marked by the famous yellow National Geographic frame.
The Episcopal Castle, built in 1342, was one of the most powerful defensive structures in Livonia, destroyed during the Northern War.
When visiting the complex, visitors can climb the castle tower and walk through the open-air museum with a large park surrounding the castle hill.
