Various attractions and festive decorations will await townspeople and guests. The Christmas train and carousel will delight not only children but also adults, a Ferris wheel will provide an opportunity to see the city from above, and the glistening boulevard and hundreds of glowing lights will make the anticipation of holidays even more playful.
On December 6th at 5 pm, the true spirit of Sunny Christmas will settle in Šiauliai: a grand Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place in Resurrection Square, during which a magical fairy tale will be shown. Not only the decorated Christmas tree will bring high spirits and smiles – the Christmas post office will also be open here, a nativity scene can be visited, and those with a sweet tooth will be tempted by the Delicacies Street full of delicious aromas.
The upcoming holidays will be special – after all, in 2026, Šiauliai, one of the oldest cities in Lithuania, will celebrate its 790th birthday! So, this winter, the city will be full of entertainment, lights, and flavours.
On January 30th-31st, Šiauliai will shine even brighter, hosting the first event of the anniversary year, called Aušra. Bundantis jautis (Dawn. The Awakening Bull). Four city buildings will be illuminated with impressive light installations, as if reminding us that Šiauliai is keeping watch and awaking for a new decade.
Not only an abundance of events and fun activities but also unhurried moments await you in Šiauliai. Take a walk along the third pedestrian boulevard in Europe, admire art objects reminiscent of the past century, drop in a cosy cafe for your favourite drink. Wishing art or history? Visit the Photography Museum, Šiauliai Art Gallery or the Balts’ Road Centre. When you get tired or cold, relax in the sauna on the shore of Lake Talkša, enjoy hot chocolate in Rūta cafe, herbal tea in Valerijonas Tea House or a pastry in Desertų dirbtuvės (Dessert Workshop), which will instantly take you to Paris.
