Toolse Castle in Estonia
Toolse Castle is the youngest order castle located in the north of Estonia.
Founded in 1471 by the Master of the Livonian Order, Johann Waldhaun von Gerse, it was meant to protect the harbor and coast from pirates.
Over the course of two centuries, the castle was rebuilt from a three-storey house into a complex with outer and inner courtyards.
During the Great Northern War it was destroyed; since then, only ruins have remained.
Today, the castle is a popular tourist attraction in Estonia.
