The Turaida Castle is located on the territory of the specially protected cultural monument known as the Turaida Museum-Reserve.

The castle was founded in 1214. In 1776, it got demolished during the fire and started to turn into ruins; its restoration began in 1953.

In the Main Tower, at a height of 38 meters, there is an observation deck, with a view over the winding Gauja river and picturesque hills covered with woods.
