Sietiniezis cliff, Latvia
This is one of the highest white sandstone outcrops in Latvia with the height of the cliff reaching 15 meters and the length up to 400 meters. The cliff is located on the right bank of the Gauja between Valmiera and Cesis.
The surface of the cliff is covered with various voids, which make it look like a sieve. This is where the name of this place came from: ‘siets’ means ‘sieve’ in Latvian.
Around Sietiniezis, there are walking trails and recreation areas.
A picturesque view of the Gauja and the woods opens up from the cliff.
