Užava lighthouse, Latvia
The lighthouse is located in Užava parish, about 20 kilometers south of Ventspils.
It was built in 1879 at an altitude of 28 meters above sea level. The height of the tower is 19 meters.
During the First World War, it was one of the first buildings to be bombed in Latvia. In 1925, it was restored.
The Second World War also damaged the lighthouse, but it was extensively renovated in 1994.
Today, you can climb to the very top and explore the observation deck with a stunning view of the Baltic Sea.
There is a beach nearby as well as a picnic area with tables and a bonfire.
