The “Staro Riga” light festival takes place every year in the Latvian capital in mid-November. For four days, the city turns into an extraordinary spot full of bright lights as facades of buildings, bridges, squares and city monuments get transformed into unique works of light and music.
The theme of the festival this year is “CHIAROSCURO”.
Moonlight makes a perfect contrast between light and darkness. To enhance the impact on individual objects, the light generally falls from a single, usually invisible, source. Famous artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio and Rembrandt used this technique in their works.
During STARO RĪGA 2020, contemporary artists from different countries can originally interpret this topic to create their own unique multimedia art objects.
Dates: November 18th – 21st
