It’s not the first time that Vilnius is recognized as the capital with the most beautiful Christmas tree in Europe. The current rating was published by the European Best Destinations travel organization.
The Christmas tree is installed on the Cathedral Square in the center of Vilnius and looks like a modern surreal painting. Being 24 m high, it reminds of a transformer assembled from metal parts and packed with 6000 fragrant live spruce branches. The installation is decorated with 4 km long garlands and 800 silver decorations and shining mirrors, which cover the area of 150 m².
You can get inside the construction and feel the comfort of a living tree decorated with pine cones and lanterns.
This Christmas tree is considered environmentally friendly as electricity for its decorations is generated by recycling old coffee grounds.
