Valmiera, Latvia
The city of Valmiera is located 107 km from Riga towards the Estonian border. The river Gauja flows through the city and divides Valmiera into two parts. Come here to enjoy nature, walk along the lovely paths by the coast, and immerse yourself in the history in the heart of the city.
Valmiera was first mentioned in historical reports in 1323. Over the years, it has been ruthlessly destroyed by wars and fires. The city had to be completely rebuilt 11 times.
