Viljandi Castle (Fellin) in South Estonia
Viljandi Castle was built on the site of a former settlement at the beginning of the 13th century and was one of the most impregnable castles in Livonia. It is the main attraction and symbol of the city.
At the beginning of the 17th century, during the Polish-Swedish wars, the castle was completely destroyed, and only a few fragments of it have survived to this day. The territory of the castle was converted into a park area, and in summer, it is used as a concert venue where classical music concerts and a folk festival are held.
